i've been reading some stuff online and am deeply disturbed by what i've seen.
i'm surprised how singaporeans who can't write grammatically are teaching english in the ministry. and worse, it gives them credentials to use the experience to apply for teaching jobs overseas. worse still, they get the job and tarnish the reputation of capable teachers back home.
it pisses me off...
difference between human and animals
Saturday, September 19, 2009 (10:53 AM)
for centuries now, scientists and their groupies have decided that the major difference between human and animals is in the mental faculty.
the much-acclaimed "brilliance" of scientists came up with reasons like we are able to think and we have languages. but i'd beg to differ. i think we are but another species of self-absorbed, egoistical beast, perhaps much worse than the other species.
we cage the strong animals and display them in the zoo. we leave the smaller species on the streets and kill them either for food or because "they are a nuisance" or "they can't take care of themselves". look at the number of animals put to sleep at the organisation that supposedly helps animals. they are put to sleep because "no one adopts them", "the organisation does not have enough resources to keep them", "they are too injured to stay alive". but hey! they didn't ask us to look after them.
when our own gets killed by an animal, we put the animal to sleep. when our own gets abducted by an animal, we put the animal to sleep. what makes us think the world belongs to us? why are we assigning the sovereignty to ourselves? they didn't vote for us to "take care" of them.
what makes us think that animals don't have their own languages? just because they sound the same to us, doesn't make them the same. just because we don't know, doesn't mean they don't think.
at the very least, the crows in singapore, thailand and japan all sound different to me.
i do not suggest i am any different. just stop calling animals stupid. i find the comment ironical and disturbing.
