frontline

i was watching frontline last friday and happen to be watching the repeat telecast again now. one of the topic was on how the economy is affecting a particular family of 2.
this couple just bought a 4-room flat, a car and hired a maid. the wife is 7 months pregnant and was retrenched a few weeks ago. thus, the husband whose salary is reportedly $2k+, takes home $1k+ after deduction of cpf. $1k+ goes to the car and the wife says they have around $600 left per month. thus, she has been crying every night.
i wonder why they don't want to sell the car...
at the very least, they will still get an extra $1k+ for daily expenses.
